About Jaswant Singh Kanwal
Kanwal came from Dhudike, in what is now Moga district, and lived to a hundred. His early novels are village love stories that keep turning into books about what the village will not permit. The later ones take on the Left, the Naxalite years and the Punjab of the 1980s. Taushali Di Hanso won him the Sahitya Akademi Award.
