About Baldev Singh
Sadaknama, the book that gave him his name, comes out of years spent driving trucks. Anndata is about farming and the arithmetic of debt. The later novels turn to history: Dhaawan Dilli De Kingre, and Suraj Di Akh on Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
Where to start
Anndata if you want the village, Sadaknama if you want the road. He writes plainly and at speed, so either makes a good second or third Punjabi novel.
